December 8th, 2020 | by NEWCAThe latest action in a lawsuit filed by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) against Governor Tony Evers and his administration is good news for employers in the Badger State. A judge has granted a temporary injunction preventing the state from releasing the names of more than 1,000 employers that have had potential COVID-19 outbreaks.
Several construction-related organizations have supported MWC’s case with amicus briefs, including ABC WI, AGC of Wisconsin, the Plumbing Mechanical Sheet Metal Contractors Association, among others.
The injunction is a major victory for corporate privacy. Evers’ administration had threatened to release the COVID-related data, but MWC’s suit claims such an action would do “irreparable harm” to those businesses.
