Annual Event Demonstrates Impact of Collective Employee Mission

Appleton, WI – Consolidated Construction Co., Inc., a full-service design/build firm based in Appleton, surpassed a charitable giving milestone, raising over $100,000 since the launch of their yearly employee-driven program in 2022. This year, the company raised $39,175 for the National MS Society; a check was presented just days prior to the organization’s largest local event, Walk MS Appleton, on April 25.

Now known as “Consolidated for a Cause”, the annual event highlights the collective impact of employees around a shared mission. A defining element of the initiative is its employee-led fundraising and selection process where team members nominate and vote on causes that hold personal significance. In 2026, employees selected the National MS Society following a powerful nomination from Sarah Crowe, who shared her personal connection to the cause.

“MS has profoundly impacted my family. My mother and aunt both lost their battles with the disease, and I have loved ones still living with it,” shared Crowe. “Supporting the National MS Society means contributing to research and programs that bring real hope to families like mine.”

New to this year’s campaign was the introduction of a student art contest, which invited local high school students to create original artwork representing themes of hope, resilience, and community. The winning design was created by Xavier High School Senior, Emily Bakey, and was featured throughout the campaign and auctioned at the event.

Consolidated Construction plans to continue their “Consolidated for a Cause” tradition in the years ahead, with each event supporting a new and meaningful charitable organization.

Miron Construction 2025 Top Projects in Wisconsin recognition was recently announced by The Daily Reporter, highlighting excellence in construction and project delivery.

The Daily Reporter, a statewide construction newspaper, recently honored outstanding Wisconsin construction projects on its annual Top Projects in Wisconsin list. This year, one of Miron Construction Co., Inc.’s projects has been recognized: Missionaries of the Word New Convent.

Awards will be presented at the annual Top Projects event in early May. The event recognizes outstanding achievements by Wisconsin builders, owners, engineers, architects, and more.

Below is additional information about Missionaries of the Word New Convent.

Located on an 80-acre parcel of land in Egg Harbor, the new 28,954 square-foot motherhouse named Gloria Dei is home to the Missionaries of the Word, a community of Catholic Sisters in the Green Bay Diocese whose mission is to evangelize and assist with youth retreats. The main dwelling in the convent will eventually house approximately 30 Sisters and includes a detached two-car garage, a chapel, library, refectory, kitchen, laundry, guest apartment, classrooms, offices, multi-purpose room, sleeping rooms for up to 30, and restrooms. Outside there is a prayer garden with a grotto as well as a private secured area for outdoor activities and a large cross with a bench where the Sisters can go for reflection and prayer.

A variety of technical factors gave this project a certain degree of difficulty, including intricate ceilings in the chapel with multiple angles not typical of most structures and the construction of double-barrel domes above the chapel windows. A challenge that had the team bending, readjusting the layout, and recalibrating the domes multiple times to meet the standard of design.

This recognition further reinforces Miron Construction’s leadership, with the Miron Construction 2025 Top Projects in Wisconsin honor showcasing the team’s commitment to quality.

By Mary Culotta
Contributing Writer

GREEN BAY – On Wednesday, Feb. 18, the Green Bay Area Public School District will host its first ever Trades Day event in the Southwest High School gymnasium.

The morning of the event will be open to current GBAPS students, but the career fair will open up to all community members from 12-1 p.m.

This collaborative event between City of Green Bay, Northeast Wisconsin Construction Alliance and Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship aims to bring attention to trade careers for both students and adults in the community.

Fifty local companies will be present to participate, demonstrate the demand for workers and bring a wide variety of trades to showcase.

Construction, welding, electrical, plumbing and HVAC are just a few industries that are ready to highlight what they can offer.

Southwest High School Counselor, Amanda Millan said, “We’re also proud to welcome community partners who help remove barriers to employment. Programs like Highway Construction Skills Training through Forward Services offer six week training experiences that build both technical and interpersonal skills, key components of success in the trades.”
According to Millan, February is a crucial time for trade companies to look for and hire reliable workers.

“Many trade careers don’t require prior experience. Employers are often ready to train individuals who show commitment, reliability, and a willingness to learn,” Millan explained. “We want students and community members to understand that the trades are not just fallback options. These are in demand, high skill, high opportunity careers.”

Inspiration for this event came from Dan Webster from Walbec Group, who wanted to develop an event that shows off the vast opportunities of skilled trades and the certified apprenticeships available.

Millan explained that as seen on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, construction and extraction positions in the area pay $31.94 per hour on average.

From the same source, Wisconsin saw a 3.6% employment growth in the construction sector during this past year.

Green Bay Area Public School District’s plan is to turn this into an annual event throughout Brown County.

Millan said, “Whether someone is looking to enter the workforce immediately, make a career change or explore apprenticeships, the trades offer clear pathways, strong wages and long term stability. This event helps individuals meet employers face to face, ask questions and discover opportunities they may not have realized existed.”

A unified school district of 92 square miles, it covers the city of Green Bay, all of the village of Allouez, the village of Bellevue, the town of Scott, as well as part
of the towns of Ledgeview, Eaton, Green Bay and Humboldt. For more information, visit the district website http://www.gbaps.org.

City of Green Bay
The City of Green Bay is the flagship city and economic hub of northeastern Wisconsin, serving as the county seat of Brown County and home to approximately 107,000 residents along the Bay of Green Bay at the mouth of the Fox River. Governed by a mayor and 12-member city council, the City provides a full range of municipal services while fostering public–private partnerships that support neighborhood revitalization, business growth, and strategic reinvestment in infrastructure. As Wisconsin’s oldest city and a gateway to a metropolitan area
of more than 330,000 people, Green Bay combines a strong industrial and visitor economy with a vibrant quality of life, anchored by its historic downtown, waterfront, parks, and cultural amenities.

Northeast Wisconsin (NEW) Construction Alliance
The Northeast Wisconsin (NEW) Construction Alliance, under the leadership of New North, Inc., is an association of employers in the construction trades and friends of the industry collaborating to work with educators, workforce development, economic development, and
government to promote careers in the building and construction trades in our 18 county region of northeast Wisconsin. We are a united voice for the construction and trades industry and careers.

Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship
Cooperative Educational Service Agency 7 (CESA 7) is strengthening Northeast Wisconsin’s workforce pipeline through the Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship (NEWYA) Consortium, a regional partnership connecting school districts, employers, and students through paid, career-connected learning. Through NEWYA, CESA 7 partners with local employers to ensure students gain meaningful, real-world experience while helping districts and businesses build a skilled, homegrown workforce. The combined impact—student wages, district reinvestment, and workforce development—positions Youth Apprenticeship as both an educational strategy and a driver of regional economic development.
